The young people in Europe and China should beef up exchanges and expand cooperation, a European youth leader said Wednesday in Beijing.
Giacomo Filibeck, president of European Youth Forum (EYF), said that EYF is an international organization made up of national youth councils and international non-governmental youth organizations, which are federations in themselves. The groups brings together tens of millions of young people from all European countries.
Filibeck is here to further the Europe-China cooperation on youth affairs, who headed a youth delegation to China as guest of All-China Youth Federation (ACYF).
Noting the young people in Europe and China still know little about each other, Filibeck said "we need to fill the gap of lack of knowledge and develop mutual trust."
"We have reached agreement with ACYF to implement further cooperation under the three frameworks," Filibeck said.
The three frameworks refer to the bilateral discussion, negotiation in international organizations and global youth affairs consultation mechanism, according to Filibeck.
One of the common areas for the global youth to work on is multilateralism, said Filibeck, stressing that youth is the "driving force for building a multilateral world."
It is the belief in multilateralism that motivated EYF to collaborate with China and other countries, Filibeck said.
