Li Changchun, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said improving the Party's ability to construct advanced socialist culture is of great importance for its governance in China.

"The ability is well in alliance with the Party's general governance targets," said Li. "And it should be viewed as a major means in enhancing the Party's governance capability."

Li, who is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said the fostering such an ability will be of guiding and nationwide significance if China simply wants to win the international national power competition between countries.

Li made the remarks during an investigation and investigation tour on the Party's capability in improving the construction of advanced socialist culture in Anhui, Guangdong and Fujian provinces.

"To achieve that goal, the Party must made more efforts in the study and construction of the Marxism theory and fully implement the arduous task of arming the whole Party and educating the people with Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin's party building thoughts."
