Jiri Novak was declared the best Czech tennis player of the year in a poll of 135 sport functionaries, journalists and sponsors on Satursday, triumphing for the sixth consecutive time in the poll's 12-year history.
He was presented with the prize by Czech President Vaclav Klaus.
Novak owes his success to his winning of two titles in the autumn part of the ATP season, his featuring above the 30th position in the ATP rankings and his brilliant performance in the Davis Cup this year.
