Delay in establishing Palestinian state causes instability: Abbas
font size

Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) chief Mahmoud Abbas has stressed that any delay in establishing an independent Palestinian state would cause instability to the region.

Abbas made the remarks after his meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo, China Radio International reported Monday.

The Palestinian leader said that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state would give the Palestinians freedom and dignity and bring about stability, calm and peace.

Abbas added that the Palestinian people are fully capable of managing their own affairs.

Abbas arrived in Cairo late on Saturday to hold talks with Egyptian officials on security and political issues in the Palestinian territories.
