Sino-Indonesian relations a new type of strategic partnership: Premier Wen
At a meeting with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyo, Wen said the bilateral ties of mutual trust, reciprocity, equality and cooperation, is aimed at enhancing peace, stability and prosperity of the two countries, as well as of the region and the world, according to a press release from the Chinese delegation. Wen is here for an official visit to Laos, and for attending the eighth summit between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China, and between ASEAN and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK), as well as the sixth China, Japan and ROK summit. Wen expects the two nations to expand cooperation in trade, agriculture, energy and infrastructure, expressing the hope that bilateral trade would hit 20 billion US dollars at an early date. He said China will work together with Indonesia to push forwardthe relationship among ASEAN nations. "We attach importance to the role that Indonesia has played in regional and international affairs, and will make joint efforts with Indonesia to enhance unity among developing countries and to promote cooperation at the United Nations," Wen said. Susilo said it is significant that Indonesia and China have reached an agreement on building up a strategic partnership, and that Indonesia will discuss with China on ways to implement the agreement. He expressed agreement with Wen's proposal on economic and trade cooperation, saying that the two sides expect to advance cooperation so as to benefit the two peoples. | ||
