Han Qide, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC), met with Ntlhoi Motsamai, speaker of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Lesotho, in Beijing on November 29.

Motsamai pays an official goodwill visit to China from Nov. 28 to Dec. 6 as guest of the NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo.

Motsamai assumed the post of Speaker of the National Assembly in October 1999 and renewed her term of office in June 2002.

Lesotho, with a population of 1.8 million, is a southern African country made up mostly of highlands, where many of the villages can be reached only on horseback, by foot or light plane.
