Albania held Monday a military parade in Tirana along the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its liberation from the nazi-fascists.

A total of 3,500 troops of the Albanian Armed Units took part in the parade and hundreds of citizens watched and hailed it from the two sides of the boulevard.

The parade was also attended by Albanian President Alfred Moisiu, Premier Fatos Nano, Speaker of Parliament Servet Pellumbi,senior army officials and other senior government officials.

The fight for freedom waged by the Albanian partisans and patriots made Albanians proud and encouraged them to carry furthercontributions, work and efforts for their future, Nano said at theopening of the parade.

"We continue to testify that we are sons of the patriots and partisans who fought for freedom and therefore we should be distinguished of the spirit of solidarity and values of citizenship," Nano said.

On Monday, the Albanian leaders also paid homage to the martyrsof the Nation and laid wreaths of flowers in the monument of Mother Albania.

Albania was liberated from nazi-fascists on Nov. 29, 1944.
