FM: Vanuatu reaffirms one-China policy

Vanuatu has reiterated that it will not have official linkage with Taiwan, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue Tuesday.

"The Council of Ministers of Vanuatu made resolutions on Nov. 10 and Nov. 18 respectively, deciding to annul the communique signed in Taipei on Nov. 3 on Vanuatu-Taiwan ties," Zhang told a regular press conference.

The Vanuatu government reiterated Vanuatu's adherence to Resolution 2758 of the United Nations General Assembly as well as the one-China policy included in the 1982 communique on establishing diplomatic relations between Vanuatu and the People's Republic of China, said Zhang.

China hopes Vanuatu follows the China-Vanuatu communique and honor its commitment on the Taiwan issue, Zhang said.
