China to make 2005 economy plan

China's policymakers are to convene soon for an important annual meeting in Beijing to map out the principles for China's economic plan for 2005.

The Hong Kong-based Wen Wei Po said the Central Economic Work Conference would likely take place in early December, China Radio International reported Wednesday.

Xinhua news agency says China's economy is widely expected to grow at a rate of around nine percent this year.

China recently raised interest rates for the first time in nearly a decade, the latest in a series of measures to slow the runaway economy.

It has also tried to rein in excessive investment and curb inflation by reducing bank loans and restricting the use of land by industry.
