Sino-British ties are strong, with fruitful results reached in fields of economy and trade, culture, education, science and technology, health and environmental protection, said Huang Ju, China's vice premier, in Beijing Wednesday.
During talks with British Deputy Prime Minister and First Secretary of State John Prescott, Huang said frequent contacts between leaders of the two countries have been an important driving force for Sino-British ties, with strategic consultation and political dialogues strengthened.
The two sides should continue to explore new paths and open new fields for cooperation, to enrich the content of the Sino-British strategic partnership, Huang said.
Agreeing with Huang's remarks, Prescott said Britain-China ties have seen remarkable progress since the British Labor Party took office in the government in 1997. The two countries have also achieved "satisfactory" results in communication and cooperation in various fields.
Prescott reiterated that the Britain will stick to the one-China policy.
Huang briefed Prescott on domestic situation in China and the national strategy on reviving the old industrial bases in northeast China and other areas, according to China's Foreign Ministry sources.
