Overseas Chinese gather in Macao for celebration
font size

Over 500 overseas Chinese were invited to a big sodality in Macao Thursday, where a photo exhibition was also held to showcase the entrepreneurship of overseas Chinese in the last century.

As one of the celebrative activities marking the fifth anniversary of the founding of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), the party invited overseas Chinese to come back to see the changes in Macao, and retrospect the hardship of early Chinese emigrants to 60 countries and regions through 200 photos taken in the last century.

Macao's Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah said at the big gathering party that all Chinese worldwide shared the joy of Macao's return to China five years ago. During this period, Macao has achieved an initial success in the practice of China's "one country, two systems" principle, which has met the expectations of the Chinese people.

Zhou Tienong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) attended the gathering party and the inauguration of the photo exhibition, both of which will end on Friday.
