Thailand and Cambodia will cooperate in addressing border problems, Thai Defense Minister Gen.Sumpan Boonyanun was quoted by the Thai News Agency as saying Thursday.

Gen. Sumpan said that he and his Cambodian counterpart, Gen. Tea Banh, discussed the problems during his recent visit to Cambodia.

The Thai defense minister paid an official visit to Cambodia earlier this week.

"I discussed cooperation in addressing border problems with my Cambodian counterpart. The problems include drug trafficking, illegal immigrants and joint border patrols," he disclosed.

Gen. Sumpan said that he also took the opportunity to visit a new school Thailand has presented to Cambodia.

The secondary-level school, constructed by Thai military engineers, was presented by Her Royal Highness Crown Princess MahaChakri Sirindhorn.

Thailand and Cambodia will hold the next meeting of their jointborder committee in Phnom Penh soon, Gen. Sumpan said.
