While Afghan president-elect Hamid Karzai is to be sworn in next Tuesday as the first elected head ofthe post-war nation the US government reiterated its support to his coming administration.

"President Karzai is a good man. He loves his country and we would cooperate with him," US ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad told reporters here Thursday.

The incumbent Afghan leader who captured 55.4 percent of over 8million votes cast in Oct. 9 presidential polls is going to inaugurate the country on Dec. 17 amid tight security among the dignitaries.

Commenting on the formation of the upcoming cabinet, Khalilzad said it was Karzai's responsibility to fulfill the constitution of the new administration.

However, the ambassador mentioned that professionalism and meritocracy should be kept in mind in forming the new cabinet.
