Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) president Purnomo Yusgiantoro has said he would resign from the secretary general post which he serves concurrently.

"I will resign from the secretary-general post in December because I want to focus more on the country," Purnomo, who is also Indonesia's minister of energy and mineral resources, was quoted Friday by Detikcom online news service as saying.

His term as OPEC president also will end in the same month.
