Ukraine opposition leader urges dismissal of Yanukovich's government

Ukraine opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko on Friday night called for the dismissal of the government headed by his rival Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich.

Speaking to supporters at the Independence after the Supreme Court made the ruling to declare the election results invalid, Yushchenko also urged the Ukrainian authority to dismiss the Central Election Commission, which announced Yanukovich the winnerof the elections on Dec.24.

Yushchenko also asked his supporters to continue protests untilthe demands were met.

Earlier on Friday evening, the Ukraine Supreme Court made a decisive ruling that the results of the second round of the presidential elections is invalid and ordered to hold a revote forthe second round of election.

Court chairman Anatoly Yaremen announced the ruling which was broadcasted live, saying that "a repeat vote" should be arranged within three weeks counting from Dec. 5., suggesting a victory for the opposition camp.

The ruling cheered up opposition supporters, who gathered at the Independence Square to watch the hearings at the court and wait for the ruling.

Tens of thousands of opposition supporters came to the square and held a grand celebrations, shouting, singing and dancing till midnight.

This is no reports from local media about the response from theYanukovich's camp.
