The death toll from Friday's landslide in southwest China's Guizhou Province rose to 34 by press time Monday, rescuers said.

Ten people are still missing after the disaster, which occurred in the wee hours Friday in Zuojiaying, a village in Nayong County.

Cold air from the north has lowed the temperature to 3 degrees Celsius.

More than 340 people whose homes were destroyed by the landslide have moved into tents in safe places.

Emergency supplies, including quilts, clothes, rice and medicine have been distributed to survivors, a county official said.
