Ukraine's President Leonid Kuchma saidearly Tuesday that he had agreed to reshuffle the central electioncommission and support election law reform, but no agreement was reached on sacking the government.

Kuchma's statement came following round-table talks with opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich.

The talks were also attended by international mediators, including European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana, Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus and Russian parliament speaker Boris Gryzlov.

"(We) agreed on the need to introduce amendments to the law on electing Ukraine's president that would envisage introducing a mechanism for conducting transparent and fair elections, making abuse and fraud impossible," Kuchma told reporters.

Kuchma said in a statement that the opposition had agreed to lift a blockade of government buildings after the approval of electoral changes and the reshuffling of the central election commission.
