Musharraf: War on terror makes world less safe
font size

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has said that the war on terror has made the world less safe and has not addressed the underlying causes of the conflict.

The Pakistani President told the British Broadcasting Corporation on Monday in London that the war on terror is only an immediate context, and not a strategic, long-term solution.

He says a war on terror needs to combat the political disputes and social inequalities that gves rise to extremism.

Musharraf is expected to hold talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, with focuses on the fight against terrorism and the search for peace in the Middle East.

Musharraf arrived in London on Sunday for his first official visit to Britain, after his trip to the United States last week.
