German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder left Changchun, capital of Jilin Province in north China, on Wednesday, wrapping up his three-day work visit to China.
Before his departure, Schroeder addressed a seminar on Sino-German cooperation in the revitalization of northeast China's old industrial belt, including the provinces of Jilin, Liaoning and Heilongjiang.
During his stay in Changchun, the second and last leg of the visit since Tuesday evening, Schroeder, accompanied by Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan, attended a ceremony for the official inauguration of a new car plant of FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Company Limited, a major car-makers in China.
Schroeder, who arrived in Beijing to begin his visit Monday noon, met with Chinese leaders including President Hu Jintao, top legislator Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing. He also visited some Sino-German cooperative projects in the Chinese capital.
It was Schroeder's sixth visit to China after he became chancellor of Germany in 1998.
