font size

Death toll from a coal mine flooding has risen to four by press time, with the body of another missing miner found in Shizuishan city, northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region, at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Severe flooding occurred at the Kabuliang Mining Zone of Jinhelan Co. Ltd., located amid Helan Mountain Range under the jurisdiction of Jinhelan Co. Ltd, an affiliate of Ningxia Coal Industry Group, at 12:00 hours Sunday, when eight miners were toiling at down-shaft work faces.

By 3 a.m. Monday, four miners were rescued, including two slightly injured, but three others were found dead and another one missing at the time.

Jinhelan Co. Ltd was told to suspend coal production at the Kabuliang mining Zone.

The cause for flooding is under further investigation.
