Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said Wednesday that China attaches great importance to developing relations with the Netherlands.

He made the remarks while holding talks with his Dutch counterpart Jan Peter Balkenende during the seventh China-EU annual summit meeting.

Wen said that China and the Netherlands are having a very good relationship and that the two countries have good cooperation in the sectors of agriculture, science and technology. The volume of bilateral trade is also growing fast.

China is ready to work with the Netherlands to raise bilateral relationship to a higher level.

He proposed to promote bilateral relations by increasing high-level political exchanges, expanding economic and trade cooperation, enhancing cooperation in agriculture and pushing forward exchanges and cooperation in judicial affairs, education, culture and medical care.

Balkenende thinks highly of China's great economic achievements and the positive impact shed on the economy by China's macro-economic policies.

He also reiterated that his country adheres to the One China policy.
