Ruslan Davidovich was elected the new head of the Ukrainian Central Election Commission, according to press report Wednesday.
Prior to the election he was deputy chairman of the commission.
Earlier in the day, the parliament, on the opposition's demand, appointed a new Central Election Commission. Eleven members were reappointed from the old commission, and four members are new.
Former Central Election Commission chairman Sergei Kivalov did not receive the necessary number of votes. He was accused by the opposition of vote rigging in the run-off election.
Opposition will have the majority of seats on the new Central Election Commission. Members from the Regions of Ukraine faction led by Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich were not appointed to the commission.
