Rescue work of SW China's landslide suspendedRescue work of the landslide in southwest China's Guizhou Province was suspended on December 8 by the discovery of two boulders, rescuers said. The five people still missing after last Friday's landslide in Zuojiaying, a village in Nayong County, might be buried under the two rocks, said county head Gong Xiaonong. Rescuers have found 39 bodies by Tuesday evening and said the survival hope for the five missing is slim. The boulders weigh about one hundred tons each. Gong said a grab machine can not move the two huge rocks and only explosion will work. But experts worry that an explosion will cause another landslide, the official said. Experts are now working on a solution. Source: Xinhua |
