Third-stage Three Gorges Project of 100% quality

After its twelfth -time spot inspection, the State Council expert panel on Three Gorges Project quality supervision announced Wednesday that the third-stage Three Gorges construction is of good quality, with 100 percent unit projects up to standard and operating safely.

The inspection started on November 29. Experts concluded that the 11 generating sets are properly installed and in normal operation, with the amount of electricity generated far exceeding planed and all performance indexes kept at rather high levels.

During the 500-odd days after the damming, security indicators of major constructions, including the dam and the five-step lock, are found within designed scales. The double-line five-step lock has been working normally, with a passing volume having exceeded 40 million tons. Construction of the third-stage project has been completed ahead of schedule.
