Sri Lanka to intensify security for foreign embassies
font size

Sri Lankan government has decided to implement a special security program to provide protection to foreign embassies in the country, the national television station reported Thursday.

Legal action will be taken against those who are taking photographs of foreign embassies in the island without permission, said the station.

Security video cameras are to be installed in all foreign embassies under the new program.

It has also been decided to launch a mobile police patrol service covering all embassies.

These decisions were taken at a special meeting held Thursday attended by high-ranking Sri Lankan security officials as well as representatives of foreign missions in the island.
