Balkan countries confirm dialogue as only instrument for regional stability
font size

Balkan countries confirmed Friday in Tirana in a joint declaration that dialogue was the only instrument for achieving regional stability.

"We are committed to the dialogue as the only instrument for achieving overall stability and prosperity in Southeastern Europe, which will lead to successful completion of the region's Euro-integration process," said the declaration, closing the Southeastern Europe Regional Summit on Interethnic and Inter-religious Dialogue.

There is no religion that preaches terrorism, and there is no interest and reason for a nation to justify terrorism, the declaration said.

According to the declaration, enough room for all the religions' legal activities is necessary for the cultural diversity.

The summit, started from Thursday, was held under the auspices of the Albanian President Alfred Moisiu and the UNESCO Director-General Koichiro Matsuura.

Leaders from Macedonia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Serbia and Montenegro, the Bosnia and Herzegovina, Norway attended the summit.
