font size

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met here Friday with a delegation from the Center for Strategic and International Studies of the United States (US), headed by Richard McCormack.

Wang said as the largest developing country and the most developed country in the world, China and the US should push forward friendly cooperative ties.

This meets the fundamental interest of the two peoples and is conducive to world peace and development, he said.

Wang said he hopes the two countries will properly handle the existing problems and promote further development of Sino-US relations.

McCormack agreed with Wang's view on Sino-US relations. He spoke positively of China's contribution to Asian and world economic stability during the Asian financial crisis.

The two sides also conferred on economic and trade issues as well as the RMB exchange rate.
