font size

European Union representative Michel Rocard announced in Ramallah that the international observers' mission for the Palestinian presidential elections is the biggest in the history of the EU.

Rocard, who was also former French Prime Minister, told a news conference that the total number of the observers would reach 2600 persons.

"Sending such a big number of observers to the Palestinian territories show how important for the European Union to hold Palestinian presidential elections," he said.

The EU envoy said that holding the Palestinian presidential elections "is part of a central and major process of political reforms."

"It could create a new opportunity to reinforce progress of peace on the region," he stressed.
