Chinese Guo beats South Korean Kim Kyung Ah

Seventh-ranked Guo Yue of China thrust Kim Kyung Ah of South Korea 4-1 in the last eight of the women's singles at the ITTF Pro Tour Finals in Beijing on December 11.

Guo, who ousted Li Jia Wei of Singapore in the first round 4-0, beat South Korean Kim 11-5, 11-13, 11-9, 11-6 and 11-4.

Chopper Kim, sixth-ranked in the world, caused a lot of trouble to Guo with her accurate placement spots in the second set after Guo took the first set 11-5 easily.

However, the Chinese number four Guo, taking advantage of the South Korean's impatience and increasing mistakes, did not give her opponent any more chance and took the ensuing three sets, sealing the match 4-1.

After the match, Guo Yue said: "I am satisfied with my performance, not only my tactics but also my mental conditions.

The most crucial key to my victory is that I made enough preparation before the match."

On the prospect of beating semi-final rival Wang Nan, Guo said: "I played with her twice, but lost both of the matches, so I have to try my best to outlast her. I pay too much attention to the process instead of the result."

Kim, winner of 12th-seeded Song Ah Sim, Hong Kong, China, in a thrilling seven-setter, did not feel happy. "It is the first time I faced Guo, and I did not have enough time to adjust myself to her style and rhythm. I thought I could stage a superb match in front of the crazy crowd, but I failed."
