Israeli helicopter gunships fired around six missiles at Gaza City early this morning. The attack came just hours after Palestinian militants killed four soldiers in a strike on an army post along the Gaza-Egypt border.
Following the outpost attack, Israeli troops were seen preparing reinforcements. One of the targets in Monday's reprisal attack was a metal foundry. The Israeli military frequently targets workshops where they say Palestinian militants produce munitions.
There were no immediate reports of casualties. The attack follows one of the most sophisticated Palestinian strikes ever against an Israeli military post. Explosives were detonated inside a tunnel running under the post, before gunmen moved in with support from mortars. In addition to the four soldiers killed, about eight others were wounded.
