Basescu wins 2nd round of presidential elections in Romania.

Traian Basescu, representative of the opposition Justice and Truth coalition, has won the second round of presidential elections in Romania, Itar-Tass reports Tuesday.

According to the latest information provided by the central electoral commission, 99 per cent of ballot papers have been processed. They show that Basescu got 51.23 per cent of the votes. His rival Adrian Nastase got 48.77 per cent of the votes.

Speaking on Romanian TV in a live-broadcast programme, Nastase admitted his defeat in the second round.
