M5.8 earthquake rocks Japan's Hokkaido

An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted Japan's Hokkaido Prefecture on Tuesday afternoon, Japanese Meteorological Agency said.

The earthquake, which took place at around 2:56 p.m. (0556 GMT), was also measured a maximum intensity of 5 plus on the seven-level Japanese seismic scale.

There were no immediate reports on casualties and damage.
