Trials of former Saddam's aides to begin next week
font size

Some of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's aides will go on trial next week, interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi said Tuesday.

"I can now tell you clearly and precisely that next week the trials of the members of the former regime will start, one by one so that justice can take its path in Iraq," Allawi said.

However, he did not mention the names of the former Iraqi regime members that would go on trial or if Saddam himself would be among them.

Saddam's aides have been in jail for more than one year, and few of them can meet with lawyers.
