China to label refridgerators, air-conditioners with energy information
font size

China will label all the refrigerators and air-conditioners manufactured after next March with energy efficiency information, said an official with the National Reform and Development Commission (NRDC) Tuesday.

The move is the latest of China's efforts to combat its chronic power shortages.

According to the report, labels will be pasted on the front of the appliances containing product information about energy efficiency levels, electricity consumption per 24 hours and so on.

The energy efficiency level ranges from one to five, one being the highest.

"We launch the energy label to improve public awareness of energy-saving and to guide consumers' behavior in buying energy-efficient products," said an official with NRDC.
