Dozens hospitalized after Turkish cinema catches fire

Dozens of people were rushed to hospital for medical treatment of smoke inhalation on Tuesday night as fire broke out at a cinema in Turkey's largest city of Istanbul, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

Around 40 people were hospitalized, most suffering from smoke inhalation, said the report, adding that nearly 1,000 people were evacuated from the cinema.

Meanwhile, the Sky-Turk news channel said altogether 135 peoplewere injured in the fire. But there was no one killed.The fire broke out at 9:30 p.m. (1930 GMT) at a cinema complex in an Istanbul shopping mall, said Anatolia.

The blaze was then put out by firefighters and no one was trapped inside the building, it added.
