Lin Dan makes easy start in Indonesia Open

World's top shuttler Lin Dan of China started the year-end grand prix in Indonesia with an easy win over non-seeded player Kay Bin Yeoh of Malaysia at the Bung Karno Tennis Indoor Stadium on Wednesday.

It took only 30 minutes for Lin Dan, who is seeded number one in the Indonesia Open, to beat Kay Bin 15-5, 15-6.

"I will go trough the tournament with focus on the matches one by one," he told a group of mostly local journalists asking his target.

He said he has the confidence to beat Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat, who is also the reigning champion in the tournament, if they could reach the semifinal stage.

Local hero Taufik also passed the first round successfully witha 15-2, 15-7 victory over compatriot Sigit Wahyudi.

A showdown between senior players Marleve Mainaly of Indonesia and Wong Choong Han of Malaysia produced the toughest match of theday.

Despite the home crowd at his side, Marleve lose to the Malaysian 11-15, 15-12, 5-15.
