font size

The Chinese trade unions are willing to enhance solidarity and cooperation with the trade unions of African countries, said a top Chinese trade union leader Wednesday.

Wang Zhaoguo, president of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and also vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, made the remarks in his meeting with visiting trade union leaders of African countries.

Wang briefed the guests on China's political, economic and social development, and the major task of the Chinese trade unions. He said cooperation between the two regions' unions would promote the healthy development of international trade union movement.

He said the Chinese trade unions enjoy consolidated cooperation with their African counterparts. As trade unions of developing countries, both of them shoulder the responsibility of organizing their laborers to boost national development and maintain laborers' rights and interests.

Peace, development and laborers' rights and interests are the common goal for trade unions of all the countries, Wang said.

The African guests are visiting China at the invitation of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions.
