China center back Zheng Zhi will make trials in English premier league strugglers Southampton, reports said Wednesday.

Zheng, who plays with newly crowned Chinese champion Shenzhen, left here for Britain to try his luck.

The Chinese international has made trials in Hertha Berlin 10 days ago, but received no reply from the Budesliga club.

Zheng will be the second Chinese player to make trials in Southampton following Li Tie, who is playing with English premier league rivals Everton.

Southampton are now staying second from bottom after 17 matches.
