NE China province's foreign trade hits 5.529 billion US dollars

Heilongjiang Province, northeast China, registered a record foreign trade volume totaling 5.529 billion US dollars in the first ten months this year, a year on year rise of 33.1 percent, according to the provincial bureau of commerce.

The figure was higher than last year's total trade volume of 5.33 billion US dollars, according to statistics released by the bureau on Thursday.

The total trade volume included 2.936 billion US dollars in exports and 2.593 billion US dollars in imports. Both figures increased by 38.4 percent and 27.6 percent over the corresponding period of last year respectively.

Trade volume between Heilongjiang and Russia reached 3.105 billion US dollars in the Jan.-Oct. period, accounting for 56.1 percent of the total trade volume for the same period and representing an increase of 35.3 percent year on year.

Other major trade partners included the United States, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Export commodities include electromechanicals and high-tech products.
