The second unit in the first phase of construction of Huaneng Qinbei Power Plant passed 168-hour-long trial operation successfully and has been officially put into production, marking the success of the construction of China's first 600MW supercritical unit (2*600MW), the national pilot project, and symbolizing the great strides China has advanced in power station facility manufacture and power industry equipment.

The homemade 600MW supercritical unit is one of the nine key national projects approved by the State Council in the national "Ninth-Five Year Plan (1996-2000)" period. The first-phase construction of Huaneng Qinbei Power Plant was officially kicked off on September 1, 2002, and the first unit will be put into production on December 23 this year.

The two-unit construction period is less than 28 months, in which the six successes including boiler water pressure, boiler ignition, electrification of power-consuming system in plant, operation of steam generator, incorporation in power network and 168-hour-long trial operation were achieved on the first try.
