Myanmar leader meets Chinese PLA senior officer

Vice-Chairman of the Myanmar State Peace and Development Council Maung Aye on Thursday stressed further promotion of the friendly and cooperative ties between Myanmar and China and between the two armed forces.

Vice Senior-General Maung Aye, who is also deputy commander-in-chief of the Defense Services and commander-in-chief of the Army, made the remarks when meeting with visiting Deputy Director of the General Logistics Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Sun Zhiqiang.

He anticipated enhanced exchange of visits of the two armies at different levels to strengthen friendly ties between the two armies.

At the meeting, Lieutenant-General Sun said his visit to Myanmar is to enhance understanding and friendship and expand cooperation. He believed that through the visit, relations between the two countries and the two armed forces would be further boosted.

Present on the occasion were Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Li Jinjun and Military Attache Senior Colonel Ma Shoudong.

Sun's delegation arrived here on Wednesday for a four-day goodwill visit to Myanmar.
