China uses 37.6 billion yuan national debt on agriculture

As learned from National Development and Reform Commission China has spent 37.6 billion yuan of national debts on agriculture this year, which accounts for 34.2 percent of the total national debts.

Through strengthening infrastructure construction production conditions of agriculture have improved. An irrigation area of 64 million mu (10.56 million acres) has been added or otherwise restored nationwide this year. Water-saving irrigation area has been expanded by about 18.7 million mu (3.0855 million acres). Lands retrieved from flooded or waterlogged conditions increased by 12.5 million mu (2.0625 million acres). And 21.5 million mu (3.5475 million acres) of low and mediocre-yield land has been reclaimed. China also speeded up construction of projects to alleviate water-drinking conditions for villages, reclaim irrigation areas, and those for water-saving irrigation demonstration and water/soil conservation.

On the basis of perfecting the agriculture-supporting policies China would continue to intensify investment in agriculture and rural areas next year and make sure that the proportion of funds for agriculture would increase while the total amount stay above currently level.
