Five days after playing in the United Nations' fund-raising "Match Against Poverty" of Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Chinese player Sun Xiang stillfelt excited and said that was the most unforgettable moment in his career.
Sun, who played with Shanghai Shenhua, played with all world's super stars in the match. He was in Ronaldo's team coached by LuizFelipe Scolari, Mario Zagallo and Carlos Alberto Parreira, all of whom have guided Brazil to World Cup triumphs.
The Chinese international was sent onto the pitch by Scolari inthe second half and played 35 minutes against Zinedine Zidane's team before a crowd of 65,000.
Sun thus became the first Chinese player who has played in the world's most famous stadium.
"It's really unforgettable," the left footer told the Xinmin Evening News. "This is the first time for me, but I hope it's not the last."
Sun met almost all his idols in Bernabeu. "It was amazing," he said. "I can't believe it. It was a match also played by Raul, Luis Figo, Argentina's Juan Pablo Sorin, Ricardo Costa and David Beckham."
"When some 70,000 people stand there roaring, you just can't help thinking, 'vow, it's amazing,'" Sun said.
Sun said that England captain was very friendly to him when he went to the wrong dressing room after the match. "He smiled at me and showed me the right one," he said.
He also said that Chinese fans are wrong to think Ronaldo is fat. "He is not fat. He is just muscly."
Scolari first put Sun on the right side of the midfield, but Sun told the Portuguese national coach in English that he can onlyplay on the left.
"Scolari told me jokingly: 'all the world's greatest footballers are left footers.'"
"I was walking past Ricardo Costa after being substituted by the coach, the Portuguese player showed his thumb, 'well done, Chinese guy," Sun said.
Scolari also gave Sun some advice after the match on his efforts to find a club in Europe. "Firstly, you'd find a good team because not all the teams are good for young players. Secondly, you'd play football with your hearts," Sun recalled.
"I hope to have a chance to play in Europe," Sun said. "But I will have to get Shenhua's approval."
Reports said that Dutch first division club Feyenoord have showed interests on him but nothing has been confirmed so far.
