Security measures have been tightened prior to the Christmas Day in the Pakistani capital city of Islamabad.

The capital administration has chalked out special security arrangements for churches, diplomatic missions and residences of diplomats.

The News newspaper Monday quoted well-informed sources as saying that there are intelligence reports on possible terror attacks.

The police are on high alert and have deployed extra forces around churches and buildings where the Christmas ceremonies will be held, said the newspaper.

From Monday, all roads around churches and other Christian holy localities will be barricaded, it added.

The police have also beefed up security measures at the Diplomatic Enclave, said The News, adding that from Dec. 20 to 26,all vehicles entering the enclave will be checked thoroughly.

Over 96 percent of Pakistan's 140-million population are Muslims.
