Guangdong residents see growth in income, expenditure

Both income and expenditure of urban households in south China's Guangdong Province had grown steadily in November this year, according to latest statistics from Urban Survey Team of the province, an economic powerhouse of the country.

Statistics show that in the month, the per capita disposable income for Guangdong urban residents stood at 1,016.83 yuan, up 9 percent over the same period last year, while the per capita expenditure was 883.98 yuan, up 10.8 percent.

After deduction for inflation, the growth rate for income and expenditure stood at 6 percent and 7.8 percent respectively.

Statistics show the expenditure on food increased by 10.9 percent to 315.85 yuan, a 4.1 percent of growth rate in real term.

Meanwhile, the expenditure on car maintenance and some up-market durable goods increased by a large margin for Guangdong urban residents, noted the team.

Education has also drawn greater attention of Guangdong residents. Statistics show that per capita expenditure on education in the month was 22.11 yuan, up 21.2 percent on a yearly base.
