Chinese President Hu Jintao ended his tour to the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Monday afternoon.

Hu, also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, arrived here Sunday morning.

During his two-day stay, Hu attended a celebration gathering marking the 5th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland and the inauguration of the second-term government of the Macao SAR.

The president met on separate occasions with chief executives of the Hong Kong and Macao SARs and principal officials of the two SAR governments as well as celebrities from all walks of life in Macao. he also met with representatives from the central government's offices in Macao and subsidiaries of mainland companies and inspected the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison Troops stationed in Macao.

At the Macao Tourist Activity Center, Hu and his entourage waved good-bye to people who saw him off, and left Macao via the Gongbei Land Checkpoint, which borders Zhuhai City in south China's Guangdong Province.

Among those who saw the president and his entourage off were Ma Man Kei, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Macao's chief executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah.
