China to conduct sample census next year
font size

According to Li Deshui, director-general of National Statistics Bureau, the State Council has approved conducting sample surveys on 1 percent of the national population next year.

The 1% National Sample Census 2005 is China's another large-scale survey on population after the fifth national census conducted in 2000. It is an important survey on national conditions and strength.

On basis of conducting survey items such as housing, migration and economic activity first added in the fifth census the 1% National Sample Census 2005 will make appropriate adjustment to the structure of items. By doing so it is hoped to more accurately reflect China's population and social life according to the concept of scientific development outlook, and provide accurate monitoring and scientific development basis for the comprehensive construction of a well-off society.
