font size

Mongolian President Nachagyn Bagabandi arrived in Pyongyang Tuesday morning for an official visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)

Bagabandi was greeted at the airport by Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly.

Papers here on Tuesday welcomed Bagabandi's visit to Pyongyang, evaluating it as "a new chapter in developing the bilateral relations."

"The visit marks an important occasion in enhancing the confidence between the peoples of the DPRK and Mongolia," said the major paper of Rodong Sinmun in an editorial.

During Mongolian Prime Minister Nambarrin Enkhbayar's visit to the DPRK in November last year, the two countries signed the "Agreement on the Encouragement and Protection of Investment" and "Agreement on Prevention of Double Taxation and on Income and Property and Tax Invasion".

The DPRK reopened its embassy in the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator on Aug. 6 this year after five years of shutdown.
