Reception marks 5th anniversary of Macao SAR

The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government Monday evening hosted a reception to mark the 5th anniversary of the founding of the SAR.

Addressing the occasion, Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao SAR, said the past five years saw the successful implementation of the principle of "one country, two systems" in Macao, and that such a good beginning has laid a sound political and social foundation for the Macao's further development.

With the support from the central government and efforts made by the local community, Macao has been ushered into a new era, Ho noted.

"So long as we stick to the core value of loving the motherland and loving Macao, draw on the successful experience accumulated in the past five years, and continue to make further efforts, the problem of unbalanced social development in Macao will be gradually resolved," he said.

Among some 1,000 people present at the reception were principal officials of the Macao SAR government, leading officials of the representative offices of the central government in Macao and celebrities from all walks of life here.
