The Communist Party of China (CPC) is willing to establish and develop friendly relations with parties of Iraq, in a bid to lay more solid political foundation for China-Iraq relations, said a senior CPC official in Beijing Tuesday.

Liu Qi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, made the remarks when meeting with a delegation of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) of Iraq, headed by Azad Nadjib, member of KDP Political Bureau.

Liu said the CPC and the Chinese government as well as the people treasure China-Iraq traditional friendly cooperation, and hope such cooperation will enjoy further development under new historical situation.

Nadjib expressed appreciation over China's consistent stand on Iraqi issue. He said KDP pays great importance to developing relations with the CPC, in order to deepen understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

He said the CPC succeeded in leading China to make remarkable progress, adding that its experience can be borrowed by others.

Nadjib welcomes Chinese companies to join economic reconstruction in Iraq and Kurdistan region.

He also reiterated his adherence to the one-China policy.
